Horse: It was Aug 2015 when TEPCO removed Unit 1's roof and the charts showed spikes.

bizarre colors going on there. almost as if they've got filtered lights all over. it'd be cool if someone on site would provide photos of all these areas during day to see if we could determine whether these are light effects or physics.

Still beaming, several hours later....

Anyone else notice how black the area just above the beam is?
Shadows or what?

...for comparison to the previous screen shot.

I've done it before, thought I saw a burning redish color at night when it turned out to be the red paint from the crane. Helps to view the 3 min tepco vids on YouTube just in case. Object is a part of the cable on the crane. I was wondering if this crane is attached to the smoke stack tower for some reason. It's been sitting there for awhile.

that makes sense and there's the green thing at the base that Chasaha was watching in the night. Might be time to take a break from watching the cams at night.

Crane possibly attached to the vent stack... that may be since it's apparently unstable.

Majia picked up some screen shots for the 24th/25th majiasblog.blogspot.com.uy/2016/09/fukushima-daiichi-september-24-and-25.html and one evidences a green hue hanging over, or emanating from Fukushima (shot from the street cam at the intersection offsite).

9-26 05:52 am jst, another panel removed from the south side of r1.  Fourth panel removed.

A few recent earthquakes happened in and round Japan. I think the plant is on alert because there are red warning lights at the street check point webcams and a couple of police cars. Another thing I've noticed is this streaking effect, like a glare reflecting off a bright light making three streaks on cam1 along the shoreline. But maybe it's light ray reflecting off the lens from the bright  lights on the ground in front of R1/R2/R3? Haven't seen this before though.

A large cluster of earthquakes are hitting a lake called Bombay Beach, CA Southern California.

(Strange connection?)

That is very curious. There appears to be vertical lines connecting. What does the scene show in daylight?

let's try to stick to Fukushima Daiichi webcam observations here. I think earthquakes in other countries are out of the scope.

Hi Pia - they could be telephone wires but I don't see a tower connected to the lines. It will be light soon, I'll check again later. Got it on the earthquakes Wink

I think the streaks on cam1 are spider webs reflecting light.  Saw a spider on cam1 a couple nights back and noticed two streaks afterward.

all of the spider web effects on the cams makes me wonder how the cameras are housed. is the outer "barrier" collecting humidity? or?

one of my jobs in the past was at Grand Teton Natl Park and I was tasked with, among many things, building wood housing for cameras to be set up in various areas around the park. I wasn't in on the "window" construction. So, I can only wonder.

Just to be clear Pia, we have talked about 'webs' as being radioactive steam sticking to the lens long enough to reflect light in the droplets.  Not to be confused with real spider webs draped over the lens causing the faint light streaks.  The security at the intersection that Califnative pointed out might be because of higher rads caused by the r1 panel removal.  The Japan earthquakes are a big concern because I think the shaking and seismic waves might crack the crust on the fuel melts and cause more activity.  After the rains cleared the air, I didn't see much sparking; but I noted last night a couple more than the night before.

9-27 04:00 jst  Here's another one hour spark report.  I found 10 sparks and 3 distortions right before dawn.  The sparking seems to be at what I'd call an idling rate but the 3 distortions in one hour is higher than usual.  I threw in a histogram because of the timing of the distortions every 20-25 minutes.  The timing of the sparks and distortions are so regular.  Added a couple spark pics; a double spark some distance apart but aligned vertically, and a spark and zoom for Chasaha's aerial collection.

I watched another evening of Fuku fog on the tepcams that looked like steam coming from the CSFP.  l hoped it might show in the time lapse videos.  I see that Majia
noticed it too.  The 00:12:22 c4 spark I saw in the time lapse started me looking.  Counted a little over a half hour on both cams from 23:55 to 00:33 when those recordings ended.  I found spark and distortion activity on both cameras.  C1 had 16 sparks, 1 distortion; C4 had 3 sparks, 2 distortions.  That's a strong burst of activity.

Wow Horse, you've been busy! Lot's of different colored sparks captured and it's looks the webcams are starting to blip/distort more often. I think that was one of the reasons they were replaced. Good catch and hard work, thank you. I'm still curious about those light streaks on cam1 (below), I'm not so sure they're from a spider web, it seems there would be more strands. I thought it might be from the brilliant lights underneath the cam1. The plant is really bright now on the JNN cam and noticed they moved the view to the right, showing less of R1. Here is a comparison pic from March when I noticed buildings lit up in the tree line.

Also wanted to mention Horse, I actually saw an orange SPARK on the JNN webcam when I was doing this comparison picture (09-28-16 23:30pm). It was half way up between R1/R2. Is that even possible? That must of been a huge spark to be able to see it from the JNN webcam.

Looks like some flare up you captured on the corner of R1 9-27-16, 04:43:15. I went to look for it on the Fuku 3 min vid and it was filtered out, of course. Great catch. Saw something unusual on that same video. It was filtered out and wondered if you saw it on your original recording if you have time to look. It starts at 05:09:40 where the red X is and floats up to the top of the screen. Slow the speed down to 0.25. I'm curious, is this a spider? If so, why would they bother to filter it out.

Hi Califnative, the faint light streaks are most probably real spider webs, imo.  We’re still seeing bugs walking in front of the lens causing moving black blobs to briefly appear.  You know, it’s not that they filter anything out of the time lapse, so much as the limited sampling done by the time lapse is automatically filtering out fast events.  The TBS/JNN view change is interesting, would think they would follow the r1 panel removals but maybe they think something will happen over r3.  If the radioactive vapors are causing sparks and distortions they could reach as far as the TBS/JNN camera and cause sparks.  Glad you noted seeing a spark on TBS/JNN, now we need a capture.

9-29 6 am this would be the fifth panel removed.

9-29 060524 r1 panel removal

Another Cam4 spark, pretty green, with a halo around it.  Notice straight across on the vent tower looks like a faint double.
