WEBCAM April 2016
#1
Post webcam observations for April 2016 here. Observations should start with a date and ‘jst’ time (Japan Standard Time) and camera(s). Describe as best as possible what you see. Contribute data such as weather conditions, work activities, TEPCO or local news reports, radiation readings, earthquake activity, or any information that documents events occurring at Daiichi. Comments and analysis welcome. Help keep an eye on TEPCO's disaster site.

Worker(s) spotted at the CSFP wall.

 Heavy Rain and wind conditions.
The wall itself looks darker to me. (?)

4-4 pm, in a count of the hour before midnight, amid the thick emissions hanging over each of the three reactors, found 15 sparks and 1 distortion on cam1.

4-5 11:30 am, People again walking around, must have a project going on. This evening cam4 has two new lights in the grid work on separate floors. What looks like a new crane being constructed still blocks the view of reactor 3 on cam4.

Looking at it in clear daylight, it looks like they dropped a covering over the grid work. Wonder when that happened.

Maybe 4-04 5:24 am

Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn't here.

CAMS have a very grainy bluish tinge.

TBS JNN  after midnight jst.  Early Saturday morning.

Seems like it's been a while since I've seen it this pixelated.

Thanks for keeping this thread going. I'm on a trip to visit Uranium Mines in the 4 corners and will be much more active when I get back.

I can't see anything on the Live Cams today.
I took a look at the quake map to see how many aftershocks there are and I posted maps + info here:

Good info, the earthquake storm hitting Japan highlights the risks of nuclear power production. I've been watching the shaking on cam4. I think the quaking may have damaged one of the big remote cranes, really jerking it yesterday and today they took it down. Recorders are both catching the action. Found a triple spark last night, watching for increases in emissions and sparks that usually follow quake activity.

An earthquake doesn't have to shake an NPP apart, just destroy enough surrounding infrastructure and a cooling problem could take it out.  Every time Japan starts up another reactor, the earth shakes.  Will they get the message before the next one melts?

Howdy Wotcha.

The TBS cam has been off for 2 to 3 days now.   Confused

It took me a couple of times to get used to the comments format here.
Tip: New Reply, at the bottom, means New Comment.

It's great that I can edit the comment easily after posting.   Inserting a quick snapshot into the comment works well too.

To start a New Thread be under one of the organized folder categories.

Hi Wotcha, CRL was spammed recently and admin cleaned out users that hadn't posted recently.  Nice to have a responsive admin here.  Glad you got back in.  So TBS has been down.  Earthquake activity knocked out the tepcams a couple times but restarted when I noticed, didn't lose much.  If TBS has an outage at this time we might guess EQ damage.  I noticed another of those heavy fogging events on the tepcams.  I could guess maybe some csfp venting might have occurred and the TBS cam might have been turned off.  Tepco has modified the camera feeds with the new Flowplayer so the site won't look as bad, covering up what may be worsening conditions.  Wouldn't surprise me if they are censoring TBS output as well.

Arrow majia reporting horizontal lazer-like heavy emissions.
(just past midnight on Tuesday the 19th jst)
http://majiasblog.blogspot.com/2016/04/s...on-at.html

Could be big sparks. Don't know?  I have seen somewhat horizontal ones.

Yesterday's high speed is one of the 'scariest' looking vids I've seen.    I can't help but think about how everything that the fog and rain touches is radioactive which then makes the fog contaminated too.  The fog blows, mixes and accumulates.  It's the butterfly effect times a gazillion!

Undecided  ...looked bad on the 17th:

Thanks go to Majia for noting the streaks.  They seem to emanate from the right side of cam1, the area of the common spent fuel pool that is off-screen in both tepcams.
