WEBCAM December 2018
#1
Post webcam observations for December here.  Observations should start with a date and ‘jst’ time (Japan Standard Time) and camera(s).  Describe as best as possible what you see.  Contribute data such as weather conditions, work activities, TEPCO or local news reports, radiation readings, earthquake activity, or any information that documents events occurring at Daiichi.  Comments and analysis welcome.  Help keep an eye on TEPCO's disaster site.

12-01  Watching cam4 I noticed a couple sparks.  It was obvious going thru the recording later that something unusual was occurring.  I was finding lots of sparks in two main clusters.  The first cluster was across the top of the screen while the other cluster centered right over r3.  Scanning thru the grabs, it started looking like a drone flying about.  I discount it being a bug because the lights blinked like sparks or a strobe light.  The cluster over r3 also seemed to alternate bright and faint.  The last light blink was on for about 2 seconds.  There were no other running lights like a plane or helicopter should have, so my best guess now is some type of drone.  It was too dark for a photo op.  The purpose of the flight seemed more an overall survey with a special focus on r3,  perhaps a radiation survey.

Hi Horse - I saw the same object yesterday morning flying over R3. It zipped by within a second and I caught only two frames. Can a drone fly that fast?

I also noticed when they changed the filter to black and white on Dec. 30th. I know the tower casts a shadow on this black area but they blacked out more from this comparison. Also, I think this daytime pic shows as an opening into R1?

And I just had to enlarge that HUGE multi-colored spark you captured over R2.

Here's what it would look like with two men on the rooftop!

Howdy Califnative, thanks for posting those pictures.  The first two, a second apart, could be a  plane, a drone, a bird or insect flying close to the camera; hard to tell with just the two appearances.  The next two pointing out an opening to r1 are interesting; for a couple months I've been wondering if they were building an extension on r1 like they did on r2.  I've been watching that area for more development.  The close-up of the fancy spark shows just how strange camera smashing is.  The Cherenkov radiation hitting the camera sensor is usually just a dot of bright color but the ones showing multi pixel and multi colors still amaze me.  The last one looks like you caught a couple workers looking over the edge of r2.  There's been a lot of unusual activity lately.  You pointed out the boats last month and Majia has noticed the boat activity too.  I have some other work to do today but I'll take a look at your observations in the recordings later tonight. Thanks for posting, it's good to see you again.

Tough work they're doing in Fuk. this morning on reactor 1.
Happened to be watching

On webcam 4, the foreground has cleared away now. Cranes Fuk. walking. Cables dangling.
Busy morning.

Thought I saw workers working as the big thingy went down below #R1 on webcam 1
They're here in Fuk. We know that for sure and we feel for them. Take care all

Hi'ya fellow webcam viewers. Good screen captures you got above Felibi! Was on watching around that time and saw same activity on r1. On your two r4 screen captures - is that a new white fence or structure they put at base of the r3 cover dome?

Was also wondering what the dump trucks are carrying at the Futabagun rest area location. Are they big diapers bagged with the radioactive leaking water from fuku?
