Bubble Detectors - Neutron / Gamma
#1
These are very useful detectors that provide a direct read.  They are also reusable.

Personally I would advocate that these should be handed out to every member of the public that also receives KI for living near a nuclear facility.

Fantastic: "bubble detector is a reusable, passive integrating detector that allows instant, visible detection of radiation."

This tech has been around for quite awhile. 1996 paper (your 2nd link).

"measuring energy deposition over distances of tens of nanometers" "may provide a better indicator of biological response than the concept of dose equivalent"

I'm wondering why the bubble detector has not had higher standing in the marketplace of detectors.

Maybe because they are named "bubble detectors" which isn't a very professional sounding name.

But yes, they are pretty nifty.

Bubble detectors sound like a great idea, why hasn't industry given these out so people could see for themselves that there is no cause for concern?

that is probably the problem.... the intended effect (nuclear POV) would be opposite of their expectations and then the Emperor would clearly be naked.
