Hi Vicky - Horse has posted recommendations for screen capture in one of the threads - he can help us find those posts and these will get you started for now:

Style Manual: How To http://caferadlab.com/forum-52.html
External Tools: http://caferadlab.com/thread-15.html?highlight=tool

Horse - how about, when you find those tools you've posted before - put them in a new thread in the Style Manual section so we can find it easily (I searched for "tool" and "screen capture" but it's not easy to locate). Thanks!

Vicky13, I'm all for free stuff too, and welcome aboard.  I have a few chores to do this morning, but here’s some info to get started.

Windows 7, 8, and 10 all have the snipping tool for screen captures.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help...creenshots

Win 10 video capture.  Haven’t tried this, I still prefer win7 to win10.

Free video capture – I use Blueberry Flashback Express, the free version.

Tips:
The Reply button will include text from the post.  New Reply opens a blank.  I have a Word document that I use to add my entries to and edit there for grammar, spell check, and to have a copy of that work before trying to put it in CRL.  I’ve lost too much typing when I hit a wrong button or the CRL edit expires or times out and disappears.  Copy/paste any replies you want to use; tricky getting the parts between quote and /quote you want and add your text.  Copy/paste into a new reply and Preview Post.    Add any attachments and preview again to see what the post will look like.  When I have a final, I’ll copy that back into Word for my permanent record and Post Reply.

Sizing pictures might take some trial and error.  A grab from Flowplayer can be almost doubled and still fit.  Use Paint and try resizing to 190%, save as jpg to help stay under the 500K limit.  I like to watch the tepcams at full screen so I set my browser zoom to 190 and reposition the window; TEPCO blurbs are out of the picture and don’t bug me.  Since I’m recording zoomed to 190, all my grabs just need to be converted to jpg with Paint and they’re ready to post.

The Edit button has Quick and Full edits, I usually use the Full edit.  Updating a post will not change the entry date/time stamp.  Updating an old entry won’t show as a post in the Quick Link ‘View Today’s Posts’.  The edit feature lets me fix posts with errors and add details to an observation posted in haste.

YW, much changed after flowplayer so previous advice may not apply anymore.

Was watching it snowing when I saw a puff of something on cam4 coming from the csfp.  Want to look at that again.

11-24 10:36 cam4 puff of smoke from csfp

Six minutes of real-time video showing workers on the csfp in the snow with ‘water caustics’ from the moisture on the lens.  A crane swings over; picks something off the csfp.  About 04:27 of the clip at 10:36:30 a puff of smoke or steam from the left edge, workers scurry in.  Steam dissipates, workers return to finish up.  I like how this has a little steam event showing clearly in the cold air with water caustics blurring the lens in spots to compare the differences and it’s another worker sighting.

Webs gave me something to watch and ponder on otherwise long boring stretches of cam watching especially in the early days when extreme storm events kept occurring at Dai-ichi.  Best comment was from RogerThat "They look alive".  Water caustics sounds dull in describing the dancing lights.  Usually dirt or pollen holds a water drop on the lens but my guess is radionuclides in the air are doing the same thing and with an electric charge; holding on longer than dirt or pollen could in the rain.  I have many grabs of fantastic webs in the early days when I was just lurking on enenews.  Think how bad the steaming from the csfp, r3, or sfp4 must be to reach the far off cameras.  Chatter of webs meant possible electric storms and lightening.  The webs are another indicator of radioactive dust particles in the air.   I still add observations of rain and rain with webs to posts. Makes good pictures to practice with too.

Those nasty old webs Vicky13 reported were more evidence of a problem at the CSFP.  CodeShutdown's tidbit "Mainstream science says up to a meter and a half sloshed out of the pools, including the common pool during the 2011 quake" leads me to think the EQs sloshed a little water out of the pool; the pool heated and we saw some fogging on the left edge of cam4; refilling the pool might cause a little puff of steam to be vented as cold water enters a warm pool.  The other pools probably sloshed a little water too, contributing to the increased emissions seen on the cameras at the site.

Here's an old grab of a web to show what one looks like.  The grab was before Flowplayer, taken off the old feeds; and needed to be resized 170 and saved as jpg to fill the space.

11-27 22:45 Cam 1 has thick emissions and cam 4 is fogging on the left side of the screen again tonight.   22:55 small web forming at the bottom of the screen, didn't last long. 23:00 finally got that web started.

Observing pulsing Orange Glow on Unit 4 cam view.
Guessing, maybe a burner, burning off gases like a Bunsen Burner or a giant propane heater lamp.
...or just a big orange light.

Unit 1 cam view showing steamy looking colorful heavy emissions.
Looks a bit more orange-ish to me, maybe from the glow.

Dodgy

Noted spark at 5:38 jst Unit 1 cam view.  Long white angled.  Like a shooting star going upwards.
A lot of sparking over the next few minutes.

Also noted that the cams time clocks were in exact sync.

Sunrise and still glowing...

We missed quite a spark then; cam1 recorder ran out of disk space from 03:31 to 07:40.  Meant to replace that small disk but money keeps getting tighter and recording was only a hobby.  The camera time sync must have been sometime overnight; didn’t notice it last night when I started the overnight file.
11-28
08:00 c4 EQ tremors or wind; not sure at this point in time.  Crane activity big object over r3, r1 dust suppression work.
11:19 c1 Bird closeup
11:30 c4 Vapor cloud or orb?  Didn’t see it start, rain last night leans to orb but Tepco likes to hide emissions in bad weather.
11:35 c4 tremor or wind
11:48 c4 tremor or wind

Puddles found in reactor buildings of Fukushima plant after quake
Nov 25 2016
http://conceptnewscentral.com/index.php/...ant-quake/
Or perhaps water gushing up from the ground like in other places affected.

Quote:Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc. said the puddles may have formed from water that slopped out of spent-fuel pools in three of the four reactor buildings at the idled plant during the quake. The utility has yet to confirm whether the water leaked outside the reactor buildings.

Daini sfp’s sloshed.  Did they use a mop or hose it down the drain?  The EQ was enough to make puddles at Daini.  Daini is hardly ever mentioned in the MSM, some damage but no meltdown; same as Dai-chi units 5 and 6.

11-22 Daini flyby – very short
http://www.asahi.com/articles/ASJCQ2F44JCQULBJ001.html

What little they tell us covers up all the rest that they don’t.  The Dai-ichi meltdowns, sfps, and common pool are no longer news worthy.  The big EQ was scary to watch, thinking ‘is this going to bring down another catastrophic release of radiation’.  Must be why so few watchers these days, I saw an article in the DailyMail about Japan's EQs ending with "…that destroyed the Fukushima nuclear plant in 2011, which leaked radiation into the atmosphere and has since been abandoned."

I think I saw that spark in Nuck's video.

Horse, interesting:

cam1, 11/28, 13:21-+, steam/spray event, front left corner, inside u1.  - looks to me like some sun glare as on the right side.

13:27, red spark or flash, front left corner, front, bottom right side of concrete rectangular structure inside, at floor level (remaining top floor level).  - don't know how you saw this one, took me three times at normal speed to see.  No point in posting pic ‘cause no one could find it without the blink.

13:42, bird or other anomaly?  - Posting my bird closeup pic, your's was typical ufo blur, no detail to identify bird, insect, or drone; 3 positions in 6 frames of the view.  I’ll go with bird, good to check; drones have been spotted before.

Many stops/starts of the cam, resulting in more down time than running time, but you could tell it was because there was a lot going on in there.  - My recording was no more jerky than usual, I get stops/starts when a recording computer has other updates to check for or running out of resources, mem, disk, starting other programs.  If win 10, I had to reduce email updates cause it checked every minute or two by default.  Constant stop/start may be dirty browser; see http://caferadlab.com/thread-165-post-490.html#pid490

cam1, Spark at 14:18, bottom of u2, daylight - found the three sparks easy from the info.  Congrats on finding more daytime sparks, thanks for posting.  Glad I didn't scare you away, I was getting overwhelmed just trying to keep up, probably need a break.  Thought of spelling my handle with an a as in hoarse horse - haha.  Daytime sparks are most interesting, makes me think some of the blips I saw on cam4 in the early days were sparks; possible anyway.

spark, 14:32:17 bottom left side u1, daylight

spark, 14:56:52 bottom of u2 and tower, daylight

Grabs from the recording.

Exclamation
Thanks Horse.
(general reply)

Arrow Reviewed the nuckelchen vids, but the 2016-11-28 5:38 long spark (center screen), didn't get captured.  There was a lot of activity that morning though.   I am hoping after the first of the year to have a computer that I can record to.

I did notice a dark of night crane moving behind Unit 3 on the 5:00 video.  I thought that was odd.
(at about 11:45 in on the video or 5:01 jst the back crane moves over the next minute or so)
video title: hgjkhgkj 16
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KX4-ikqp98

Exclamation  Those daytime sparks are notable!

Sad  side note:  I feel sad for the birds, all the life there actually.  They have no respirators or Tyvec suits.
Wandering into the Fuku Zone will only bring them harm.

You're right Chas, the one I saw was at 05:41:45.  I went back to look, shame we missed it.  I offer a condolences c4 spark.  Finding sparks everywhere, except tbs-jnn, it's still off-air.
