Radiation Вackground Increased In Vitsebsk after the NPP Accident In Russia

...
The station dispatch office noted that the fourth unit had been disconnected due to a breach of the condenser seal of turbine No. 2.

Has the background radiation changed?

The radiation background in Russia is normal.

Radiation background increased only in Vitsebsk by 1 micro-ray per hour compared to July 17 and amounted to 11 micro-rays per hour, Belhidramet duty forecaster told Radio Svaboda. However, he says, according to the practice of long-term measurements, the excess of radiation background up to 20 micro-rays per hour "does not cause concern". The background radiation in other settlements of Vitsebsk region is 10 micro-rays per hour.

When will the power units be connected to the network?

According to TASS, three disconnected power units can be turned on to the network on July 19. This will happen after the causes of the incident at the plant have been identified.
Vitsebsk is a city in Belarus.  The health impact of nuclear fallout has been a terrible tragedy in Belarus.  But this is not common knowledge because the government suppresses that information.  This is true of governments everywhere.

Sesam Company, Which Builds BelNPP, Went Bankrupt 9

Rosatom will buy from businessman Vasily Boyko-Veliky the contractor company Sesame, known for the incident with the fall of the reactor vessel of the Belarusian nuclear power plant.

The engineering subsidiary of Rosatom – Atomstroyexport is discussing the possibility of buying the contractor company Sesam, which is part of the holding company Energoatominzhiniring of Vasily Boyko-Veliky, fearing the contractor’s bankruptcy. This is stated in the procurement materials published by the state corporation, RBC writes. According to them, Rosatom selected the appraiser Nexia Pacioli to conduct due diligence of Sesam, bypassing the competitive procedures.

The state corporation justified this decision by the short deadline for the transaction: "it is impossible to conduct a competitive procurement procedure, as the results of due diligence, which are needed to make a decision on acquiring Sesam’s shares, will not be known until January 2018." This fact will lead to the need of attracting foreign subcontractors to foreign projects, submitting technical and working documentation for heat installation works and technologies, the note on justification of purchases from an only supplier says. In addition, Atomstroyexport notes the increased risks of Sesam’s bankruptcy and the inability to provide the company with additional financing under the general contract for the construction of the Belarusian and Rostov NPPs.

Vasily Boyko-Veliky, the owner of the Russian Milk Holding, prior to joining agribusiness in 2002-2003, worked for Rosatom, and he held the position of Deputy Executive Director for Investments of Rosenergoatom (responsible for Russian nuclear power plants). He also headed the board of directors of the general contractor for the construction of the third unit of the Kalinin nuclear power plant – Sevzapatomenergostroy. In 2006, Boyko-Veliky participated in the creation of the holding Energoatominzhiniring, specializing in the construction of nuclear and thermal power plants and other energy facilities.

Belonging to Boyko-Veliky contractor of Rosatom became widely known after the incident at the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, which occurred last summer. Then the media reported that Sesam dropped the reactor vessel for the Belarusian nuclear power plant during when loading it. The Ministry of Energy of Belarus asked to replace it, and the fallen reactor vessel was sent to the manufacturing plant – Atommash.

"There are no contractors similar to Sesame in Russia, – head of the BK-Savings analytical department Sergei Suverov explains. – This company is the successor of the assembly department created for nuclear construction in the USSR, it participated in the Kalinin NPP construction."

According to him, the number of Rosatom’s independent contractors is decreasing.

We remind that the construction period for the first block of the Belarusian NPP shifted from 2018 to 2019. The Belarusian nuclear power plant is built in violation of the provisions of the Espoo and Aarhus conventions. Belarus did not provide any valid explanations why the site in Astravets, which is located 50 kilometers from Vilnius, was chosen for the construction of the nuclear power plant. No studies have been conducted on the possible radioactive effects on international waters, residents of Belarus and neighboring countries, and the environment in the event of an accident.

It’s Shortcut, Karl! 10
18.07.2019, 12:46 6,668

They know how to do two things - lie and steal.

Three power units of the Kalinin nuclear power plant in Tver region of the Russian Federation were disconnected from the grid tonight. The reason for the emergency was a shortcut, the Basta telegram-channel writes.

Shortcut, Karl! Two wires got connected - and an accident happened, the nuclear power plant shutdown, the risk of a major accident, the recurrence of a nightmare, which is well remembered by our parents.

According to officials, "the radiation background is normal and there are no damages at the plant".

They said the same thing more than 30 years ago, in early May of 1986. The Soviet authorities were hiding the truth about the explosion in Chernobyl for a long time, spitting upon the lives and health of millions of citizens. They lied even when they had to admit that there was an accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. A couple of weeks after the explosion.

We will hear the same thing when Lukashenka's Astravets nuclear power plant, whose reactor is similar to the one in Kalinin, blows up. And there is little doubt that this will happen. After the "bloody fireworks". After the freighters coming off the rails. After dirty oil and broken roads. After daily news about the theft of officials.

They do not know how to build. They do not know how to work. They can do only two things - lie and steal. We see the results every day. However, not everybody will have a chance to find out how the affair with the nuclear power plant will end if it is launched.

All units of Kalinin NPP return to full capacity after short circuit
MOSCOW, July 20. /TASS/. All the four units of the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) some 200 miles northwest of Moscow are working at full capacity on Saturday after three of them went offline as a result of a short circuit earlier this week, Russia’s Rosenergoatom nuclear concern said.

Fourth power unit of Kalinin NPP connected to grid after shutdown
"At 21:33 Moscow time on July 20, 2019, power unit No. 2 of the Kalinin NPP has achieved its nominal capacity of 100MW. Therefore, at present, the work of the three power units, unplugged as a result of a short circuit <…> has been restored," the company said in a statement.

Transformer short-circuiting at the Kalinin NPP on Thursday morning resulted in a complete shutdown of two and a partial shutdown of another power unit of the power plant. Unit No. 4 reached its nominal capacity early on Friday, July 19. Power Unit No. 1 was connected to the grid later that day.

The Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern. The plant is located in the north of the Tver Region in Central Russia. The Kalinin NPP consists of four power units with water-cooled power reactors (VVER-1000) with the installed capacity of 1,000 MW each. The power unit No. 1 was launched in 1984, the power unit No. 2 in 1986, power units No. 3 and No. 4 - in 2004 and 2011, respectively.
